Panoramica del gioco
Bridge is a strategic card game where two teams compete to win the best of three games by bidding and winning tricks, scoring points along the way.
Bridge is a highly thrilling and widespread game based on trick-taking. The game involves 4 players, divided into two teams where each player of a team sits across their teammate. The standard 52-card deck serves as the playing deck. Commencing at zero, the aim of the game is to win the best-of-three games, with each game achieved by the first player reaching 100 points before the adversary.
Investing in bids and winning tricks, players score points called books. The no-trump suit causes 40 points for the first trick and 30 points for every further trick. If the trump suit consists of Diamonds or Clubs, 20 points per trick are scored. On the contrary, earning 30 points per trick is ensured if the trump suit is Spades or Hearts.
A short game has also been introduced; in this version, the winner is the team scoring 100 points, thus winning one game.
Auctioning begins with the dealer, and the turn moves clockwise, where a player may voice one of the following options - bid, double, redouble, and pass. A bid must be greater than the previous bid, if any, whereas double, if communicated, must follow an opponent's preceding bid. The player's team that uttered the former bid is allowed to redouble if doubled by an opponent. Any player passing declines to bid, double, or redouble at that turn; however, they may choose any later turn to do so. It is recommended to use either "no bid" or "pass."
If all players pass at their first turn, the deal moves on to the next dealer. However, if a player bids, auctioning continues until three consecutive passes are announced, and then terminates. The team that made the concluding bid will try to accomplish it, and the player from this team who declared the suit, known as the declarer, becomes the first to play, with their teammate becoming the dummy.
Overtricks and undertricks earn 100 and 50 points, respectively, and must be monitored closely. They do not, however, affect the game's outcome.
In the standard game, determining the winner requires winning 2 out of 3 games, with the winner of each game being the player reaching 100 points first. Alternatively, the quick game distributes victory to the first player achieving 100 points.
