Faery Chess, also known as Fidchell or Celtic Chess, is a captivating ancient Celtic game that has been referred to in numerous Irish epics and chronicles. Nigel Suckling's research and suppositions surrounding the lost game gave birth to Faery Chess as it exists today. The game's pieces are first placed on the board by turn, similar to the ancient abstract board game Nine Men's Morris, and then moved after all pieces are placed. However, a player captures an opponent's piece by trapping it between two of their pieces, which is reminiscent of Tafl games. This capture grants the player another move to capture another piece, creating continuous progress. The app offers two versions of the game: the basic version, where both players are equal, making it more understandable, and an advanced one with distinct goals for both players. The ultimate goal of the game, in general, is to connect the central naval stone to the board's edge through a linked line of stones. This app presents both game modes for offline play against a computer or human players and online gameplay against other humans. The app contains advertisements, but you can permanently disable them by making an in-app purchase.
